<p><span style="font-weight: 400;">La revista BBCMusic  emprendió una encuesta <strong>entre 172 de los cantantes más destacados</strong> de la actualidad para conocer qué óperas – en su opinión – <strong>son las más sobresalientes del repertorio. </strong></span></p>
<p><span style="font-weight: 400;">Cada cantante <strong>podía nombrar 3 óperas.</strong> Previsiblemente están presentes óperas de los “indiscutibles” grandes  &#8211; <strong>Mozart, Verdi, Wagner, Puccini</strong> – pero curiosamente están ausentes de las veinte privilegiadas óperas de compositores favoritos como <strong>Bellini, Donizetti, Rossini, Bizet, Gounod, Massenet,</strong>  al igual que óperas del siglo XX que han adquirido un lugar en los repertorios de los escenarios operísticos como <strong>Bartók,  Schoenberg, Shostakovich, etc.</strong> Por supuesto que han sido mencionadas por uno o varios cantantes.</span></p>
